In about 2018, we realized that the children attending the Avoyelles Parish schools faced an education environment that was threatened by low funding, competition from charter and parochial schools, and an impovished environment. Something had to be done.
So, we formed this 501c3, nonprofit with the goal of providing as much educational enhancement to the public-school children as possible.
We assembled a group of native Avoyelleans who had become successful in their respective fields. We asked them to work with the local community to identify the critical issues that could be key to helping the local public school students be successful in their lives.
Our Mission and Vision Statements reflect our organization philosophies and describe our action plans:
OUR VISION _ Avoyelles Parish’s underperforming youth have obtained knowledge, skills, support and clear pathways to become successful citizens at the highest levels.
OUR MISSION - To marshal committed citizens of Avoyelles Parish to provide time and other resources in a focused fashion to assist our youth in attaining the vision
Our board members and volunteers are the fiduciaries who steer the organization towards a sustainable future by adopting sound, ethical, and legal governance and financial management policies, as well as by making sure Project 1-Avoyelles has adequate resources to advance its mission.
